Themed dinner for May Association meeting.
For the May meeting of the Grand Forks Volunteer Firefighters Association, the crew of cooks decided to do a Luau-themed dinner, complete with pit roasted pig.

Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped with the meal, from digging the pit right through cooking and serving.

Auto Extrication training for 18 firefighters - Mar 30-Apr 1 2012
The crowd in the parking lot at Station 4 over the weekend were a dozen members from Grand Forks Fire Rescue and six more from the Christina Lake Fire Department who took part in a 2-day practical course in Auto Extrication techniques.
Eight scrap vehicles were reduced to smaller pieces as Allen Tonn from KGC Fire Rescue instructed the crew in the use of the Jaws of Life and other rescue tools.

Hotel Fires - Grand Forks Hotel and Winnipeg Hotel - March 7 2012
Grand Forks Fire Rescue was called out early on Wednesday morning to a structure fire spotted at the rear of the Winnipeg Hotel.
While the first of four trucks began rolling to the call, one of the members arriving for the second truck noted that he'd seen significant smoke at the Grand Forks Hotel as well.
Responding officers split the two scenes, and diverted two of the responding trucks to the second location and called out a fifth Grand Forks truck as well as requesting a truck from Christina Lake to provide assistance.
Fortunately, the fire at the Winnipeg Hotel was brought under control. The Grand Forks Hotel, though just blocks away from the downtown fire hall, was fully involved as the first trucks arrived on scene.

GFFR Rope Rescue on Eagle Mtn. - March 3 2012
A dog became stranded on a ledge on Eagle Mtn about 40 feet above the railway grade on Friday afternoon. It spent the night there, and members of Grand Forks Fire Rescue initiated a rope rescue on Saturday in which one member rappelled down to the ledge and was able to carry the dog while being lowered to the rail grade by the rest of the rope team.

Annual Santa Parade - December 2
Grand Forks Fire/Rescue will again be participating in the annual Santa parade. The parade will proceed through downtown Grand Forks Friday December 2nd starting at 7pm.
